This portfolio consists of two separate pieces of fused glass. They are parts of a bio-system.  The clear glass U shaped chamber is used to circulate water and nutrients to photosynthetic bacteria. Affixed to the back of the chamber is a graphic imaging plate where black powdered glass, called “frit”, has been printed and fused onto the glass plate. It acts as a light stop to reactive bacteria suspended in the nutrient water solution. Both of these components are key parts to a process I use to grow bacteria pigmentation on flexible textile substrates.
